Day Festival 140th Year
Saturday 1st May 2004
Our May Queen this year, 12 year old Jourdan Louise Smallwood,
has had connections with May Day since she was five years old, taking
part as various characters. Last year she danced the solo hornpipe.
A further connections which has been pointed our by her is that
her Mother was May Queen in 1980, when she was known as Helen Drinkwater.
Our Crown Bearer,15 year old Edward Livesley who, like his predecessors,
has worked his way through the Court for many years showing his
dedication to May Day.
The Procession starts at 2 o'clock
onto Toft Rd, where it will be joined by the May Queen's Court emerging
from Sessions House. They will proceed down Adams Hill, King St,
Tatton St, Princess St and then on to King Edward Road back to the
Heath. |
