The Lord Eldon is situated just off Canute Square, also one of
the oldest
pubs in Knutsford. Walk inside and the atmosphere is that of a traditional
English country pub. You will find a beautifully furnished Bar,
Snug,
Restaurant and a Snug/Games room. The bar is furnished with more
brass than the Grimethorpe Colliery Band, and a roaring fire makes
the whole scene particularly welcoming. A true picture of comfort
and relaxation. The Snug is just as well furnished and is somewhat
quieter as most people use the main part of the bar for drinks.
If you want to sit down quietly with a pint and a book, or maybe
for a heart to heart with your other half, this is
certainly the room to be in. The other Snug/Games room is also well
furnished but sports a Dartboard and Fruit Machines.
Beyond the main bar is the Restaurant. Once again this is a true
picture of
times gone by boasting the wooden beams and furnishings that make
the rest of the pub so perfect. A full menu is served, although
I'm not currently
sure of its time constraints. I can vouch, however, for the quality
of both
food, drink and service.
If you fancy a nice afternoon pint in a typical country pub, then
this is
the place for you. There are a couple of cask ales on offer, one
of which is
Tetleys Bitter. Tetleys is purchased by a very high proportion of
pubs. Only
a small percentage of those are able to look after it and serve
a good pint.
This pub, I'm happy to say, is one of them. It has to be said that
I have
only found as good a pint of Tetleys as this up in Yorkshire!
To Conclude:
Come for lunch, drinks, a night out - you won't be dissapointed.
Everything
is spot on. If you are in search of a quiet evening pint, it might
be as
well to check beforehand as LIVE ENTERTAINMENTS feature regularly.
If you like good entertainment then pay a visit - all the acts are
very
professional and keep to the high standards maintained throughout
the rest
of the pub. Bliss!
