George Osborne, MP for Tatton, focusing his attention on Knutsford Businesses in King Street.

Over the past 12-18 months many businesses in Knutsford have had to suffer power loss often for several hours at a time and often at peak service times which have resulted in thousands of pounds in lost trading.
The List includes retailers : Jones the Jewellers, Mozimo, Red Cross, Boots, Belle Epoque, Terence Paul, Cherry Tree Gallery, House, Broadbents, Cross Keys, Tanning Spa, Sue Ryder, Hallmark, Gusto, Rose and Crown, and Amber Lounge.
The Shadow Chancellor, has contacted Cllr Jamie Macrae at Cheshire East Council and an invitation to a meeting at Scottish Power has been received by a Commercial Director of one of Knutsford's leading restaurants.

Up to six hundred residents turned up to watch the Open Day Events at Knutsford Fire Station. Displays by the Cadets, Fire Rescue by serving Officers and a full demonstration of removal of a driver from a RTC. CLICK HERE for photos

Knutsford Business Club progress initiatives to 'Keep Knutsford Busy'

To encourage additional footfall in Knutsford, Businesses were invited to put forward their ideas that would lead to more events and spotlight the attractions of the Town. Suggestions included inviting the Town Manager, Diane Smith, from East Cheshire Council to help the Knutsford Business Club bring the ideas to fruition. Retailers have been invited to promote the 'Keep Knutsford Busy Campaign', by using adheshive labels printed by Lithotech, to use on their products, bags and gift wrapping.

Family Fun Day proves a great success on Regent Street, Knutsford.


The Party on Knutsford's Newest Shopping Street, to coincide with Royal May Day, where local retailers organised a Family Fun Day, proved to be a great advertisement for the development. Free glasses of bubbly, traditional Italian barbecue helped to the atmosphere. For children there was free funky hair colours courtesy of Toni & Guy along with face painting, balloon modeling and magic tricks as well as a free lucky dip from JoJo Maman Bébé with prizes of exclusive in-store discounts.

 Knutsford Royal May Day - Photographs May 2009

Royal May Day in Knutsford is an annual event which dates back to 1864. Now in its 145th year Katie Smith was crowned Knutsford's Royal May Queen. Ladies in Waiting, Emily Bowcock and Hazel Redhead along with the Court Ladies, Amy Kemshed, Hannah Cotton, Rebecca Humphreys and Olivia Weatherby took part in the crowning ceremony. Ben Sanders , had the honour of carrying the crown taking part as Crown Bearer for this year.

Elizabeth Gaskell's Cranford - Knutsford A History - By Joan Leach

One does not have to be a close observer in Knutsford to notice signs of Cranford days: Gaskell and Cranford Avenues, Elizabeth Gaskell Court, the Gaskell Memorial Tower; though Cranford and Matty pharmacies and the Cranford Cake shop have gone.
 
Literary pilgrims over many years have come to visit Cranford and the last resting place of the author, Elizabeth Gaskell.

While the BBC's adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell's Cranford attracted 7.9 million viewers for the first episode on Sunday 18th November, Virtual Knutsford attracted over 392,000 hits on just Sunday 18th and Monday 19th - successfully promoting the town's links to Cranford and the author.
